NOTE: It was possibly the anointing of Jesus in the house of Simon the leper that was the trigger setting Judas off to fulfill Scriptures at eternal loss to himself. When we are not fully committed to Jesus, it can be for us after three years of walking with Jesus in part, something like this that turns us away from Him. Note too that Judas with the eleven cast out demons and healed the sick - but just as Jesus warned at the close of the Sermon on the Mount - this does notguarantee that we truly know Him. Evangelists need to take care lest some fall short of making their calling and election sure.

Then see how possible it is for any of us to fall short like Peter, and deny our Lord! He did not like Judas lose his salvation, but he wept bitterly and had to have Jesus personally restore him after His resurrection.

So here we observe two ways of falling short: one irrevocably; the other with great embarrassment. In both cases, watching and praying as Jesus exhorted in the Garden, could have changed history. J.A.W.
